I’d happily pay considerably more for a Pro version that allowed for better image quality and some kind of RAW video format that allows better control of shadows and highlights, but I’m not sure if that’s currently possible for such a tiny little camera. The range of shooting resolutions available is bewildering, with only high-speed 4K missing, and that would be a lot to expect from a tiny action camera – although I’m sure it will be coming soon, with 8K rumoured for the Hero 5. Of course, the app option won’t be much help for surfers and water warriors in general, in which case, the touch screen is better than nothing.

The built-in battery in GoPros will keep you going long enough for a short meeting or session, but if you’re looking to do more than an hour at a time or reduce the risk of going dark mid-session, you’ll want to add external power. Other new features include Bluetooth support, not just Wi-Fi, and the ability to tag your best footage as you shoot it.
